Retail Assistant Manager

About the role:

The Retail Assistant Manager position is charged with leading our retail team to success in all areas of business management including marketing, finance, human resources, and operations. You will be responsible for tracking key growth metrics and making the necessary adjustments to prevent fallout. You will ensure a high standard of service by coaching behaviors that deliver a best-in-class customer experience aimed at long-term retention. This role requires a high level of time management and attention to detail, while also keeping a macro point of view at all times. You will serve as the conduit for Juva’s brand vision and how it comes to life in your location.

What you’ll do:

  • Build highly productive teams by sourcing, selecting, orienting, and developing staff
  • Boost employee morale through effective shift scheduling, monitoring, and appraising of job performance
  • Protect employees and customers by providing a safe and clean working environment at all times
  • Lead implementation and execution of all SOPs and operational initiatives
  • Provide thoughtful feedback to the leadership team for any identified inefficiencies including possible proactive solutions
  • Ensure proper accounting and security of all merchandise through constant supervision, meticulous organization, and regular inventory audits
  • Maintain all local and state compliance standards along with all legal requirements without exception
  • Implement all marketing initiatives ensuring total staff awareness and comprehension prior to the launch
  • Analyze daily traffic and sales histories to identify opportunities and make decisions in collaboration with the leadership team to drive key performance indicators
  • Serve as company liaison with wholesale distributors, local businesses and government agencies
  • Monitor and account for all cash stored on site with daily reconciliation
  • Oversee and approve any expenditures as needed for daily operations
  • Assist and lead in functions of human resources, payroll, building security and preventative maintenance and repairs of capital assets
  • Ensure the showroom floor is kept clean and organized at all times
  • Implement operational rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Supervise, manage, and direct the activities of the sales and inventory teams
  • Implement company policies and ensure staff adheres to best practices
  • Manage and inspire staff to deliver the highest level of customer service and satisfaction
  • Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations
  • Assist with customer service and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Liaise with law enforcement, vendors, landlords, and local community as needed
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of all strains and products in-store inventory as well as industry-wide product and trend knowledge
  • Assist in employee performance reviews
  • Assist in hiring and training new employees
  • Act with integrity, positive energy, and kindness at all times
  • Acknowledge every customer who enters the store with a professional and pleasant disposition
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service by creating a welcoming environment
  • Assist customers with selecting the products most appropriate for their needs
  • Educate customers on current promotions and marketing initiatives
  • Remain knowledgeable on new and existing products and promotions
  • Keep display cases clean and ensure all product is fully represented and organized
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping and organizational standards
  • Stay informed of and drive daily store goals and KPIs and commit to making a positive contribution
  • Communicate effectively with all store leaders and team members and ask for assistance when needed
  • Maintain professionalism in your appearance, attitude, and communication
  • Follow proper cash handling procedures and accurate accounting of assigned cash drawers
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management

Who you are:

  • 4+ years of retail experience including 2+ years in a managerial position preferred
  • College degree in business administration or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays
  • Ability to travel upon request to meet the needs of the business
  • Ability to professionally communicate with customers and employees
  • Ability to work around and with chemicals; lift/carry up to 50 lbs

Compensation: Starting at $65K (DOE) w/ incentives; plus benefits (health, dental, vision & flexible benefits)
